Amman — In an evening that reflected the noblest meaning of giving and volunteerism, the Bristol Hotel Amman hosted, at seven o'clock in the evening, the handover and inauguration ceremony of the new presidency of Lions Royal Swords Club for the 2026–2027 Lionistic year. The formal occasion, filled with pride, was attended by a distinguished gathering of Their Excellencies and prominent national figures, underscoring the vital role the club plays in serving Jordanian society.

During the ceremony, the outgoing president, Lion Eng. Lina Al-Momani, handed the club banner to the new president, Lion Osama Al-Maharmeh, in a scene that embodied the continuity of volunteer work and the renewed spirit of leadership within the club.

A Distinguished National Gathering

The ceremony was honored by a remarkable presence of Their Excellencies and statesmen, each of whom has left a clear mark in their field:

  • H.E. Ms. Rabha Abdel-Fattah Al-Dabbas — Senator, and the first Jordanian woman to be appointed as a governor.
  • H.E. Mr. Mufleh Hamad Al-Rahimi — Senator, Assistant President of the Senate, and former Member of Parliament.
  • H.E. Ms. Kholoud Mohammad Al-Saqqaf — former Minister of Investment, and the first Arab woman to serve as Deputy Governor of a Central Bank.
  • H.E. Mr. Ali Hamdan Al-Ayed — former Minister of Culture and former official government spokesperson.
  • H.E. Mr. Ayman Riyad Al-Mfleh — former Minister of Social Development.
  • H.E. Dr. Ahmad Al-Abbadi.

The ceremony also welcomed a distinguished group of senators and public figures, including H.E. Ms. Ehsan Barakat, H.E. Dr. Sawsan Al-Majali (a prominent academic in nursing and community health), H.E. Ms. Nayfeh Al-Zben, H.E. Dr. Reem Al-Baghdadi, and H.E. Mr. Fadel Al-Hamoud (former Director of Public Security). The immediate past president, Lion Eng. Lina Al-Momani, honored a group of Lions leaders who offered exceptional service: Governor Lion Dr. Farid Qaawar, Governor Lion Aida Qaawar, former Zone Chairperson Lion Khaled Hammo, former Region President Lion Fawzi Malkawi, and Lion Nemah Al-Laham (whose award was received on his behalf by club president Lion Farah Halwah). Welcome to you all. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you from the heart, as we meet again around the values we were raised upon: the values of goodness, giving, and honest work.

A person's life passes through many stages of pride and accomplishment, and along the way faces many challenges and successes. Yet at this particular moment, I can say in all sincerity that I am living one of the proudest stages of my life.

I am deeply proud of this precious trust and this generous gathering, especially as it comes in the presence of an elite of statesmen, each of whom has left a distinguished mark in their field. You have honored us with your presence — Your Excellencies, and all our esteemed guests.
